11th March 2026 - KS4 Selsdon Construction Workplace Insight
Students were given the opportunity to visit a local building site in its third phase of construction.
The Pastures in Banstead involves the design and construction of 23 amenity blocks, a community hall and associated landscaping, parking and more. These facilities are being built on behalf of Sutton Council as local authority amenities at a cost of £6.2 million.
Students were greeted by the site manager who gave an in depth look at the realities of working withing commercial construction. Students viewed plans of the site, discussed various career pathways related to construction and took away some sound advice and information.
They toured the site, and listened to how the construction had taken place so far, with hints and tips on how to improve their career prospects in the trades and construction industry. A highly informative afternoon was had by all.
