PSHE
Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) Education plays a vital role in supporting our students’ personal development and wellbeing. Our PSHE curriculum is responsive and relevant, using contextual issues to help students understand and navigate the real-life challenges and current issues they face both in and beyond school.
At Key Stage 3, students build on the knowledge, understanding, skills, attributes and values developed during the primary phase. PSHE education acknowledges and addresses the significant changes young people experience, beginning with the transition to secondary school and continuing through the challenges of adolescence and increasing independence. Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to manage diverse relationships, their online lives, and the growing influence of peers and the media, equipping them for the opportunities and challenges of modern life.
At Key Stage 4, students deepen their knowledge and understanding, extend and rehearse key skills, and further explore the attitudes, values and attributes introduced at Key Stage 3. PSHE education reflects students’ progression towards a more independent role in adult life, supporting them as they take on greater responsibility for themselves and others, and preparing them to make informed, responsible decisions for the future.
