Humanities

Humanities is studied in Key Stage 3 only and is a combination of History, Geography and Religious Studies. The Humanities curriculum is designed to provide all students with the opportunity to explore their place in the world, both past and present. It aims to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of History, Geography and Religious Education while meeting the individual needs of our students. We strive to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where students can build confidence, engage with challenging ideas and develop the necessary skills for learning.

The Humanities lessons are delivered twice weekly, and each subject will deliver two topics over the year and follow a three-year cycle, with clear aims, learning outcomes and subject specific skills for each. Cross-curricular themes support students to make connections between subjects; such as English, Science and PSHE.

For KS3 students, their Humanities studies at The Limes College improves their confidence and ability to successfully reintegrate back into Mainstream education, whilst also providing a strong foundation to build upon for students who stay with us and progress into KS4 study in year 10.
