Local Governing Body
The Limes College was the initiating organisation for Alternative Learning Trust (multi-academy trust). The Limes College converted to an academy within Alternative Learning Trust on 1 June 2019. The Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee, with a two-tier governance structure consisting of Members and Trustees. Alternative Learning Trust is registered in England and Wales (company number 11788031). The registered office is at Sutton West Centre, Robin Hood Lane, Sutton SM1 2SD.
The structure of the Trust is mainly dictated by the Articles of Association, with the Board of Trustees being accountable to the Secretary of State for Education.
Under the terms of the Trust’s scheme of delegation, The Limes College’s Local Governing Body has delegated responsibilities. Governors uphold Alternative Learning Trust’s vision and values, provide challenge and support to the leadership of The Limes College and engage with students, staff, local stakeholders and the wider community within the London Borough of Sutton. Individual governors are also allocated to link areas which currently include CLA/LAC, Health and Safety, Primary, Resources, Safeguarding and Behaviour, SEN, Students/Student Voice and Teaching and Learning.
