Welcome to The Limes College website. This site is designed to share with you some of the work we do; however, if you would like to know more, please come and visit. We operate an open-door policy and work with people from all agencies and areas of the community. The Limes College is a school that works with children and young people who have found themselves in some way unable to access mainstream education. This may be through unmet needs, sometimes referred to as Special Educational Needs (SEN), or complex life circumstances. Our job is to educate. We start with assessment to find out where our children are in their education, and we consider family circumstances; for example, why they may be finding it difficult to access education. Then we build relationships and provide support. We believe that children are part of a family and community and so need to be supported in that context. We believe that children need to BELONG, build positive RELATIONSHIPS, MOVE ON and ACHIEVE. We have an educational intent statement on this website which gives more detail about knowledge, skills and an entitlement to education that empowers and allows children to grow, to find their place in the world and to contribute to the rich and diverse community in which we live. At The Limes College we have some students who stay with us for very short periods(maybe a few weeks), some will stay with us for longer, and others for a number of months or years. This will depend on the support they require. The main aim of our provision is to assess students and get them back into appropriate provision. This could mean placing them back into mainstream or Special Schools. We educate a number of students in our own specialist provision, including both bespoke education packages and a provision for children who have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who need small group support due to their learning needs (for example, speech, language and communication). We look forward to meeting you and working with you in whatever capacity you come to us. Whether you are a student, parent, visitor, trainee teacher, permanent or agency member of staff – you are welcome. |
