Year 11 students visited a local care home to explore the health and social care sector as a potential career pathway.

Students spoke with Antonina, the Care Home Manager, who explained what her personal career pathway entailed, and how she came to be in her current role.

The students heard about what being a carer consists of, the qualities needed to work within the sector and what a typical day looks like. 

Antonina highlighted some of the positive aspects of a career in the care sector, but gave a balanced view by touching upon the sadder moments involved in taking care of elderly dementia patients. 

Students also discussed the possible Post 16 pathways which would allow them to enter the sector.
