Taskforce
Taskforce aims to provide both students and families with specialist multi-agency support.
This entails:
- Direct access to Speech and Language Therapy
- On-site support and intervention from an Assistant Educational Psychologist
- Post-16 transitional coaching to support with next steps
- Mental health therapy including Talk, Drama and Psychodynamic therapy and EMDR
- Regular contact from Family Workers
The focus of the Taskforce team is to improve attendance, help students to access learning, post-16 destinations where appropriate, as well as improving mental health and wellbeing and diverting and protecting our young people from offending/serious youth violence. Our family work will also provide continuous support not only to the young person, but also to parents and any siblings to provide wrap around support for the family as a whole.
The students may access some or all in exceptional cases, the support of the above professionals with the aim of identifying special educational needs, mental health needs and supporting the therapeutic needs of the student to aid with engagement in learning. At present students who have been referred to Taskforce are discussed in a biweekly team meeting with representatives from all the different strands of support. Parental consent in writing has to be given before any therapeutic intervention can take place.
